It’s Matt Fraction Week with a new issue of Thor and the big 5-0-0 as Invincible Iron Man returns to the original numbering. Let me know what you’re reading in the comments below.
Dungeons & Dragons #3 – IDW, John Rogers writing with Andrea Di Vito on art.
This title gives me deja vu, as Rogers duplicates characters and an adventure that feels just like people goofing around and playing D&D. The wit and randomness never fail to entertain.
Invincible Iron Man #500 – Marvel, Matt Fraction writing with Salvador Larroca, Kano, Nathon Fox and Carmine Di Giandomenico on art.
Guest-starring the Amazing Spider-Man (and Peter Parker). Fraction has done a decent job with ol’ Shell Head, but I find myself uninterested in his look to the future of Iron Man that has no time to build on its world or characters so the reader can develop an interest in the setting.
Scarlet #4 – Icon, Brian Michael Bendis writing with Alex Maleev on art.
Scarlet has been a jewel of creative freedom with Bendis being unbound from his typical tights and flights as one or Marvel’s lead writers. This issue shows how young Scarlet’s mission starts to become a movement.
#612 #619 – Marvel, Matt Fraction writing with Pasqual Ferry on art.
Odin is back, and he’s not too happy about it. Still, more pressing matters are at hand as the Asgardians finally get some action against the World Eaters.
